Navigators

The Navigators is our Children’s Ministry at The Journey Church. We believe that our children are the most valuable blessing God has bestowed upon us. At The Journey, we take seriously God’s word, and in Proverbs 22:6, the Bible tells us, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (ESV)
Because of that, we believe that our Children’s ministry should not just be a glorified day care. We seek to engage our children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching them all that the Bible says, instructing them in worship, and having fun to the glory of God!
We are excited to share with you that The Journey has adopted, as its curriculum for The Navigators, “The Gospel Project.” The Gospel Project is a theologically rich children’s curriculum that has been developed by some of Christianity’s top theologians and pastors. It shares the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation through video teaching, song, activities and discussion, all at an age-appropriate level for your child. Whether your child is Pre-K or 6th grade, the Gospel Project brings to light the entire message of the Bible and how everything points to Jesus Christ! FAQ’s
Where do I go when I get there?
When you first walk in the doors of the Journey, you will be greeted by our Host team. They’re pretty good about spotting new families. They should direct you to Navigators Check-in. Some of you are sneaky, though, and slip through the door and right by them! In that case, when you enter the building, proceed directly down the hall located in the worship center. You won’t get too far before you come face to face with the check-in area. (There are a few signs to help you along the way, as well!)
There, you will be asked your child’s name, age, and school grade level. If you are a new visitor, you will be asked to fill out a new child form. This will help us serve your child better, by allowing us to know of any food allergies, special needs, etc. After that, give them a hug and we’ll do the rest!
What should I expect for my kids when I visit?
The first thing to expect, is for your child to have fun! We have some of the best teachers in the world in our kids area, and they love to make the time they spend with your child fun and energetic. Our Navigators church starts with worship. Your child will gather with all the kids from every class in our kids worship center for a time of worship through song. From there they will be taken to their appropriate age group classroom.
Who serves in the Navigators church?
We have a mixture of men and women who have a passion for seeing kids grow in their walk with Christ. All of our workers are volunteers from the congregation. Our leaders work with volunteers from every age group to put together a rotation of volunteer kids workers who all serve on weekly or monthly rotation, depending on the age group. If you are a parent and are a regular attender at The Journey, we ask that you serve on rotation. Since we have two services every Sunday, your rotation would allow you to serve one and attend one. For more information about getting plugged in, please contact Rebecca Eaton here.
Will my child be safe?
YES! At The Journey, we have a committed group of men who serve on our security team. Several of these men have a law enforcement background. Our security team perform regular check-ins with the classrooms to make sure everything is going great. They also stay posted near our Navigators areas in all of our open areas throughout the building, before, during and after church, showing a security presence at all times.
What about snacks, drinks and bathroom breaks?
We provide snacks and drinks for your child during their time in Navigators church. If you are a new guest, at check-in, you will be asked to fill out a short form that will give us any specific information about your child that we may need to know, i.e. food allergies, special needs, etc. Please be sure to fill out that form!
