Shawn left abruptly. The elders (Tom and Kevin) was expecting the church to fold. The first Sunday, there was a massive drop in attendance and again the second Sunday there was another large drop. But after that the attendance remained steady. Tom and Kevin look at each other and thought this may just go on. Then four deacons were added (Mike and Ronda Kingsly along with Roy and Sharron Richardson), two of which are still with us. After the attendance leveled off, then with the help of Mike Pennington (director of mission for the Bledsoe Baptist Association) started the search for a new pastor.
