ESV – He yearns jealously over the Spirit he has made to dwell in us KJV – The spirit that is within us lusts to envy (craves ill will) – a more literal translation 1 John 2:15-16 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions--is not from the Father but is from the world. Matt 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Luke 18:13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!' 1) Submit 2) Resist 3) Draw near 4) Cleanse 5) Purify 6) Be wretched 7) Mourn 8) Weep 9) Turn laughter to gloom 10) Humble
